WHERE IS YALVAÇ?

The lovely county of Yalvac, where the winds of longing whisper hope, occupies an area of 1,415 square kilometers situated in the southern foothills of the Sultan (Olympos) mountains. In his account of the cities located in the plains below these mountains, the 1st century geographer and traveler Strabo tells us that one called Philomelion (present-day Aks.ehir) is located on the plain to the north and another called Antiocheia in Pisidia (present-day Yalvac) is located amidst the foothills and heights of the southern side.Even in prehistoric times, Yalvac was a fertile and populated area. With the passage of centuries, it became one of the most important cities of the ancient world.Yalvac county is part of Isparta, a province redolent with the scent of roses and located in the Lakes District, where the sinuous dance of the white clouds melts into the blue of the lake waters. Egirdir, Kovada, and Golcuk lakes and the Kovada and Kizildag National Parks are the symbols of unspoiled nature with their rich flora and fauna. Skiing and other activities are on offer in the Davras Mountain Winter-Sports Center where you can observe the matchless
patterns formed by falling snowflakes. Thanks to its canyons, caves, and mountains suitable for trekking and rafting, the province of Isparta will fascinate you, while the city's centers of worship, equipped with mosques, medreses, and tombs, will bring peace to your soaring exhilaration.
